Introduction

Working in Poland for foreigners remains a popular option in 2025. Salaries are higher than in CIS countries, and Poland itself is close in terms of culture and language. However, anyone intending to move faces the main question: how much does it really cost to live in Poland? 
It is important not only to know the level of salaries, but also to understand the costs: housing, food, transport, medical care, taxes. This determines how much money you can put aside and whether working in Poland is profitable. 

Own home 

If someone wants to rent a flat, then: 

Studio (bedsit): PLN 1500-2500/month.

2-bedroom flat: PLN 2000-3500/month. 

In large cities (Warsaw, Gdansk, Wroclaw, Krakow)
is more expensive than in the provinces. 

Accommodation provided by employer: cheap start
for beginners

Conditions: 2-4 people per room, shared kitchen and bathroom. 

Pros: cheap, close to work, no need to search independently. 

Disadvantages: little personal space. 

Transport

Public transport

One-way ticket: PLN 4-6.

Monthly ticket: PLN 120-180 (depending on the city).

In Warsaw, ZTM operates, in Wrocław and Kraków its own systems.

If you live
in a dormitory or hostel:

Catering - PLN 1000 

Telephone and internet - PLN 30 

Transport – PLN 150 

Other - PLN 300 

Additional expenses 

Clothing and footwear: PLN 200-400/month (if you buy on sale at Reserved, Sinsay, Pepco - even cheaper). 

Medicine: with NFZ insurance - free of charge,
private visits - 150-300 PLN.

Entertainment: cinema - PLN 20-30, café - PLN 30-50 per dinner. 

Buses from the employer 

Many companies (including Synago) provide free transport for employees: a bus picks up employees from the dormitory and takes them to the warehouse. 

Petrol price in 2025. - approximately PLN 6.5-7/l. 

Parking in town centres - chargeable (from PLN 3/hour). 

Internet media

Electricity, heating, water, gas - average PLN 600-900/month
for a 50 m² flat.

Internet - PLN 60-100/month.

Telephone charge with internet - PLN 30-50/month. 

Where to buy products more cheaply? 

Lidl, Biedronka, Kaufland - discount chains. 

Żabka - shop by the house, but prices are higher. 

Farmers' markets (markets) - vegetables and fruit are cheaper than in supermarkets. 

If you are renting a flat: 

Accommodation - PLN 2500 

Catering - 1200 PLN 

Municipal charges - PLN 700 

Transportation - PLN 150 

Telephone and internet - PLN 100 

Other - PLN 500

Food: how much to spend
on groceries? 

Food prices in Poland in 2025: 

Bread - PLN 4-5 

Milk - 4-5 PLN/l 

Chicken - 16-20 zł/kg

Pork - 25-28 zł/kg 

Potatoes - 7 PLN/kg 

Apples - 5-6 zł/kg 

How much money can
you put away per month? 

If you are earning PLN 5000-6000/month
(rate PLN 25-28/hour, 200 hrs/month): 

You can save up to PLN 3,000-4,000 per month in a student residence. 

After renting the flat, there is approximately PLN 2,000 left over.
